Phasing Plans December 2025

With work well under way to deliver the Ashbourne Reborn programme, updated phasing plans have been produced for the Highways and Public Realm project.

Derbyshire County Council is responsible for delivering the current Ashbourne Reborn highways work in the town centre. The overall programme is expected to complete in mid December.

This information was accurate on 10 December 2025, although it may change over time.

Dig Street North (now re-opened to through traffic)

April to early November ’25

Access maintained for pedestrians and delivery vehicles

Phasing of work within this section:

  1. West side footway due to be open for use before the completion date.
  2. Signal works completed at the junction ahead of St. John St. reopening.
  3. East side footway will follow in phases to maintain access.
  4. Carriageway surfacing will be the last independent activity.

Dig Street South (now re-opened to through traffic)

Late January to early November ‘25

Access maintained for pedestrians and delivery vehicles

Shrovetide Walk

July ‘25 to Early ‘26

The dial has been installed with surfacing works to be completed as early as possible in the new year subject to weather conditions.

Market Place

March to December ’25

Parking ceased from February

Works Sequence:

  1. Complete tree pits, drainage works and new block paving to the current tarmac area.
  2. Reinstatement to be tied in with HVM installation.
  3. Repair and regrout block paving to follow
  4. Works to the NW (Butchery) Footway will follow completion of the main works.

Buxton Hill (Paving works)

February to October ’25

Works Sequence:

  1. Completion of paving and tie in details.

Buxton Hill (Carriageway works)

June to November ’25

  1. Carriageway drainage works.
  2. Last work item will be carriageway resurfacing and new road markings.

St John Street (now re-opened to through traffic)

March to November ’25

Access maintained for pedestrians and delivery vehicles

Works Sequence:

  1. Complete Paving from Millenium Square to Market Place / St. John.
  2. Last work action will be to carry out carriageway surfacing in remaining sections.

Millennium Square

May to November ’25

Millennium Square is now complete.

Victoria Square

July to December’ 25 – Tree replacement works & furniture install.
