Derbyshire Dales Goes Green 2025
Join us for our free, annual Go Green event, this year in the beautiful town of Wirksworth. The event aims to showcase solutions to the climate and nature crises, and highlight the impressive community action within the Dales.
When?
Saturday 16th August, 10am - 3pm
Where?
Wirksworth Memorial Hall and Gardens, DE4 4DS
The venue is in the centre of Wirksworth, on St John Street/B5023. There are a small number of car parks within Wirksworth but it can get busy and we encourage sustainable transport wherever possible. Wirksworth is served by several local buses, details of which can be found at - Wirksworth – Bus Times.
Whats on?
- Free bike workshop by Inclusive Pedals - bike checks, adjustments and repairs – adults and children’s bikes welcome
- E-bike demos by Peak-e-pedals
- Wirksworth Repair Cafe - (10am–1pm, last items in by 12.30pm) – electrical, non-electrical & fabric items welcome
- Local green technology installers such as heat pumps, solar panels and electric vehicle charging points
- Suppliers of sustainable furniture
- Independent advice on improving the energy efficiency of your home including the Fantastic Homes van and information on grants
- Local nature conservation charities and the Moors for the Future Bogtastic van!
- Local community groups on hand to discuss their work
- Our own teams will be available, including Serco who collect waste and recycling on behalf of the Council
- Activities for kids including the smoothy bike, modelling clay, grow your own micro-greens
- Delicious food stalls, homemade cakes, tea and coffee!
