Community toilets
In 2018 the District Council took the decision to close several toilets, as part of a £1m savings target. However last year the Council carried out a review of toilet provision across the District, to identify gaps in provision. A decision was made to reopen some of these toilets and to fund a community toilet scheme, in areas lacking in facilities. The scheme will contribute to the stock and cleaning materials. The amount awarded will vary between £600- £1000 depending on the facilities, location and opening hours.
The funding is for parish & town councils and organisations that meet the following criteria:
- Open for public to use without the need to purchase or use the services
- Open at least 5 days a week, including weekends
- Where there is no other toilet provision in the area
The grants are for one year and will be assessed annually.
