Local Development Scheme

Derbyshire Dales Local Development Scheme 2025-2028

Section 15 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (as amended by Section 111 of the Localism Act) requires that local planning authorities prepare a Local Development Scheme (LDS), which sets out the Council’s programme for the preparation and adoption of the Local Development Documents over a three year period. The previous Local Development Scheme was brought into effect in December 2023 and covered the period 2023-2026.

A revised Local Development Scheme has been prepared to cover the period 2025-2028 and was adopted by the District Council at a meeting of Council on 30th January 2025. The revised Local Development Scheme sets out the timetable for the review of the Derbyshire Dales Local Plan adopted in 2017 and outlines the resources required to take the Plan forward and the risks associated with its preparation.

The timetable for the preparation of the revised Derbyshire Dales Local Plan set out within the Local Development Scheme 2025-2028 states:

  • Continued evidence base gathering and policy development - December 2024 - December 2025
  • Draft Modifications - January 2026
  • Draft Submission Modifications - August 2026
  • Submission to Secretary of State - December 2026
  • Examination in Public (end) - May 2027
  • Receipt of Inspector's Report - July 2027
  • Adoption - September 2027
